Through hard work, dedication and continued skills development, Dale has obtained valuable experience and expertise in a multitude of industries.

Dale’s career has seen him excel in the Marine and Road Transport sectors. Starting as a vehicle body builder apprentice at 18, he has continually expanded his knowledge of all types of fabrication, from building Road Trains to High-Speed Ferries to custom Trailer Boats.

In 1997 Dale had the opportunity of learning Computer Aided Design (CAD) and was been able to introduce these skills into the Transportation and Marine products.

Early in Dale’s career he progressed to management roles in both the Transport and Marine industries which included producing boats for the Australian Market in China.

Custom Works was founded in 2007 by Dale and has been operating under his values of Quality and Integrity ever since to produce boats and trailers that perform above his customers’ expectations. Dale’s boats are widely known for their excellent seakeeping ability and are built to last. Many of the fishing guides in the NT use Custom Works boats and trailers. These boats and trailers are used day in, day out, so Dale seeks out their specific feedback on his boats and trailers which is then included in the ongoing design and development of Custom Works products. The combination of experience gained throughout his career and taking on board practical experiences of customers has helped him develop and deliver the trusted and reputable boats Custom Works is known for.

Quality boats and trailers that exceed the expectations of our customers with integrity embedded in everything we do.

Integral to delivering our vessels is the use of state–of-the-art 3D modelling software to develop all Custom Works designs.

We specialise in ongoing research and development in all aspects of the marine and transportation industries.

We are proud of the process we undertake with each client to ensure we meet the customers brief and provide vessels which provide years of long term satisfaction.

As the only Territory boat builder employing high-end 3D computer design technology, Custom Works is able to deliver accurate hydrostatic information and detailed modelling to custom design vessels to meet the specific requirements of each client.

Our investment in 3D CAD allows Custom Works to seamlessly integrate what we do in house, with other skilled design and engineering professionals in the maritime industry. This includes access to technologies such as computational fluid dynamics, provided by Damien Smith Design, allowing fine tuning of hydrodynamic designs.

During this phase, millimetre perfect parts delivered by our 3D design process, are assembled by our dedicated team. We continue to liaise closely with our customers to ensure fit and finish are both practical and high-quality. This all leads to boats and trailers customised to our client’s requirements and built to meet the tough conditions dealt out by Northern Australia.

Custom Works employs permanent longstanding quality trained personnel to undertake the design, construction and fit out of all vessels and trailers. Our workshop takes on the training and education of apprentices to aid in the growth of skilled tradesman in this field.
