Custom Works has established a reputation for delivering a large range of purpose-built Commercial Vessels. Our team of specialists work closely with our customers to develop designs which meet our customers’ requirements and comply with survey regulatory guidelines.

We have a strong relationship with Damien Smith Design to develop bespoke commercial vessels which are ‘fit for purpose’ and ensure all aspects of our commercial boats meet AMSA NSCV requirements and the specific needs of our customers. These vessels are independently certified by Kiel Maritime.

In 2020 we expanded our workshop and are now capable to accommodate larger commercial vessels up to 15m long and a 5.5m beam.

Our vessels have also been utilised for Water Police, SES and Coast Guard, Indigenous Sea Ranger Patrol, Emergency Services, and many other sports fishing charter operators. They are all fully customised to suit the client’s needs, including options to have emergency drop down doors.

With the Aspley Straights separating Bathurst and Mellville Islands a Car Ferry is necessary to move vehicles for people travelling from Island to Island.

Custom Works was awarded the opportunity to Design and Build a vessel to carry two 4WD vehicles or 35 Passengers. Damian Smith Design 12m Monohull design was built and delivered in February 2020 and has successfully replaced their older single vehicle Barge.

Custom Works have been awarded the opportunity to design and build new tourism vessels for Nitmiluk Tours, Katherine.

The first vessel was launched early 2021 and was the first vessel built for the Top End tourism sector in the Territory for many years.

Custom Works partnered with Damien Smith Design to deliver a 12m, 60 passenger vessel designed to meet the specific needs for the team at Nitmulik.

The next river vessel for Nitmiluk is expected to be completed early 2023.
